JERSEY CITY, NJ- On Saturday May 22nd, residents of the Hamilton Park section of the city, came together for an afternoon of music and traditional dance, in celebration of Asian-Heritage Month.

Saturday’s event was our second time we were invited to share in the community’s, neighbourly friendship for one another.

Touring the event we were once again consumed by harmony among all. Residents sat upon picnic style blankets, as the sounds of cultural music emanated throughout the park.

Although one or two of the performances were canceled due to the increasingly hot and humid weather, Traditional dance performances kicked off at 3:00 p.m., as planned.

While observing a traditional dance style, performed by Ananya Moghe and Neyse Vineet, we had the opportunity to speak with Archana Athalye with the JCHS Performing Arts Center.

She gave insight into the school’s curriculum. In which kids from 3-years-of-age and up, along with adults are taught and made aware of their South Asian traditional and modern cultural heritage, in music and dance. The school also offers a S.T.E.M. enrichment program, in partnership with Funtastic Science, in bringing science enrichment for ages 3 to 12-year-olds.

We will be meeting with Archana in the upcoming week to visit with her at the center, for a follow-up interview.

Today as school systems struggle with a variety issues, and where our children are becoming increasingly frustrated in what is transpiring. It was a pleasure to see children filled with an overwhelming sense of pride and fulfillment while representing their heritage.

As always we are grateful to the residents and neighbors of Hamilton Park, in welcoming us to enjoy a wonderful afternoon together with all them, and we will looking forward to your next event.
