WASHINGTON, DC.- Elite USA Gymnastic Athletes will testify before The Senate Judiciary Committee today over The FBI’s handling of Sexual Abuse complaints against the team’s former Doctor, Larry Nassar.
Simone Biles, Maggie Nichols, McKayla, and Aly Raisman will speak out following the release of a scathing report into the failures of the agency to investigate complaints against Nassar, who was convicted in January 2018 of abusing ten minors, and is now serving up to 175 Years in Prison.
During his time working with The US Women’s Gymnastics Team, Nassar allegedly Sexually Assaulted at least 265 girls under the guise of medical treatment.
FBI Director Christopher Wray and Inspector General Michael Horowitz, who led the report, that detailed how the FBI’s Indianapolis Office did not respond with urgency that the allegations required and criticized agents for making fundamental errors once they began investigating, these errors allowed Nassar to continue abusing young athletes for months.
The goal of these hearings, a Committee Spokesperson said, is to understand why The FBI’s Indianapolis Field Office responded slowly and inadequately, enabling the abuse to continue during the delay.
Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut has said, ” There Must Be Accountability For This Chilling Failure.”
