RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, NJ.- The Randolph Township Board of Education reversed their last month’s prior decision th remove all holiday names from 2021/2022 School Calendar Year.
Following four weeks of public outcry, the school board during last night’s meeting voted that all holidays will be listed by name on The School Calendar, including Columbus Day.
During The School Board’s May meeting, The Board voted to change Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples Day.
On the June 10th board meeting, over strong objections from parents, The School Board voted to label holidays on The School Calendar. All holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Veterans Day would listed as a Day Off with no mention of the holiday name.
During Monday Night’s four-hour meeting, which included public comment from 50 people, The School Board voted 8-1 to adopt the motion to restore the calendar to the it was before Columbus Day and other holiday names were removed.
