NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Hundreds of students and others turned out yesterday on the New Brunswick Campus of Rutgers University, in opposition to the requirement that all students who wish to return to campus this fall, prove that they have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus.
Rutgers is not making the same requirement of its teachers, who are instead only ” encouraged ” to get vaccinated.
The protest Friday was organized by the Rutgers’ branch of Young Americans for Liberty ( YAL ), the student libertarian, and Turning Point USA, a Nationwide Conservative Student Political Group.
” There are hundreds here, I want to say up to 500 maybe,” said Sara Razi, a Rutgers junior, Turning Point and ( YAL member), who has been extremely vocal against the vaccine mandate.
” We have students here, adults, parents, people brought younger children too.” It’s amazing,” she said, Razi said she was ” happily surprised,” by the turnout.
Rutgers Police Officials put the crowd estimate yesterday at 400.
Yesterday’s rally went from 11:00 a.m. to after 2:00 p.m. at the Brower Commons, located at 145 College Avenue.
