31-YEAR-OLD MAN EMPLOYED AT A BASKING RIDGE SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOOL CHARGED WITH A CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSE

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll reported, that Following an Investigation, a 31-Year-Old Jefferson Township, New Jersey man, who is Employed at Basking Ridge, New Jersey Special Education School was Taken into Custody and Charged in connection with The Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.
According to Authorities, The investigation began with a CyberTip from The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding an Alleged Digital File Depicting the Sexual Exploitation of Children. The Digital Media File was Allegedly Uploaded to The Social Media Platform Discord. Morris County Authorities were able to Identify Richard Kattermann as the individual for Uploading the File to Discord. It was further alleged that Mr. Kattermann Possessed Additional Items Depicting The Sexual Exploitation of Children.
Accordingly, Mr. Kattermann was Taken into Custody and Formally Charged with One Count of Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, for Possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material.
At the time of the investigation and Arrest, Mr. Kattermann was Employed at The Montgomery Academy, a Special Education School located in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, serving Students from The Age of Five and Twenty-One Years of Age.
Kattermann was Arrested on The Charge on Thursday, February 8, 2024. Following his Arrest, Kattermann was released on Pretrial Release Conditions that include Supervision and Internet Monitoring.
If Convicted on The Charge Mr. Kattermann will Face a Term of Incarceration of up to Five Years in New Jersey State Prison and will be subject to Megan’s Law Registration Requirements.
