COLUMBIA NEW JERSEY MAN CHARGED FOR GHOST GUN MANUFACTURING AND SALES

   “Joseph Palumbo, Jr. Was Taken Into Custody On February 8, 2024, & Charged With 32 Counts Of Unlawful Firearms Offenses.”

COLUMBIA, NJ.- Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll and Warren County Prosecutor James L. Pfeiffer reported, that following a Joint-Investigation, Joseph Palumbo, Jr., 33 of Columbia, New Jersey was Taken into Custody and Charged in connection with The Unlawful Manufacturing and Sales of Firearms without Serial Numbers, also known as Ghost Guns, in Morris and Warren Counties.

     According to The Prosecutor’s Office, Mr. Palumbo, Jr. is Alleged to have Illegally Manufactured and Sold Ghost Guns between December 2023 and February 2024. Palumbo is alleged to have Sold The Ghost Guns with the Majority being Assault Firearms, during that time frame in Morris and Warren Counties. 

     The Sales involved One Homemade Handgun without a Serial Number, Five Homemade AR-Style Assault Rifles without Serial Numbers, and Two Large-Capacity Magazines. Palumbo, Jr. was Taken into Custody following a Motor Vehicle Traffic Stop by Detectives on February 8, 2024.

     During the Execution of a Court Authorized Search Warrant on Mr. Palumbo, Jr.’s Columbia, New Jersey Residence, Detectives uncovered a Ghost Gun Manufacturing Facility in the Basement of his Home. Court Authorized Search Warrants were also Executed on Palumbo, Jr.’s Netcong, New Jersey Barbershop and his Motor Vehicle. During those Searches, Detectives found Two Additional AR-Style Assault Rifles without Serial Numbers, approximately Thirty-Six Additional Firearms consisting of Assault Rifles and Handguns, Numerous Parts Used to Manufacturing Firearms, Hundreds of Rounds of Ammunition, and Three Illegal Silencers.

     Accordingly, Joseph Palumbo, Jr. was Formally Charged with Four Counts of Second Degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Firearms; Seven Counts of Second Degree Unlawful Possession of an Assault Firearm; Eight Counts of Second Degree of Transporting a Manufactured Firearm Without a Serial Number; One Count of Second Degree Conspiracy to Manufacture and Transport Firearms Without Serial Numbers; One Count of Second Degree Purchasing Parts to Manufacture a Firearm Without a Permit; One Count of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; Eight Counts of Third Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Without a Serial Number; One Count of Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity; One Count of Fourth Degree Manufacture, Transport, and Disposition of Large Capacity Magazines; and One Count of Fourth Degree Manufacture, Transport, and Disposition of Firearm Silencers.

     As a Further Result of The Investigation, Monica D. Scaglione, 30, of Columbia, New Jersey, was also Charged with One Count of Fourth Degree Child Neglect after it was determined that a Minor Child resided in Mr. Palumbo, Jr.’s Residence that he Shared with Ms. Scaglione, where the Weapons were Seized.

     Mr. Palumbo, Jr. was Prosessed on The Charges and is currently being Detained in The Morris County Correctional Facility pending Future Court Proceedings in Morris County Superior Court. Ms. Scaglione was Processed on The Charge and Released on a Complaint Summons pending Future Court Proceedings.
