INTERNET CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN TASK FORCE RECEIVES THE 2023 KEITH YOUNG I.C.A.C AWARD

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, NJ.- Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffery H. Sutherland and Chief of Detectives Mike Emmer would like to recognize and congratulate The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office High Technology Crimes Unit/ I.C.A.C. Task Force for being nominated and for receiving the “2023 Keith Young New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Affiliate of The Year Award.”
On February 22, 2023, The Award was Presented by Colonel Patrick J. Callahan of The New Jersey State Police for The Unit’s Dedication and Tremendous Work investigating Cases involving Child Sexual Abuse Material over the past year. Also in attendance at The Award Ceremony was Lt. Keith Young’s Wife, Jennifer Young.
The Keith Young New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Award is dedicated to Investigative Excellence and Recognizes Outstanding Performance regarding I.C.A.C. Investigations that display both vigilance and compassion regarding the dangers faced by children on the internet. The Award was named after Lt. Keith Young from The New Jersey State Police, who spent the majority of his career as a Leader in The New Jersey I.C.A.C. Task Force before losing his battle against cancer in early 2021.
“We would also like to acknowledge Detective Jessica Corson for her continued hard work and investigative capabilities,” said Prosecutor Sutherland. Detective Corson was the lead Detective on an Investigation that was highlighted by Colonel Callahan which involved over 1800 Digital Files of Child Sexual Abuse Material. Detective Colson was able to conduct a thorough Cyber-Tip / I.C.A.C. Investigation that resulted in not only the apprehension of a Sexual Predator but also in saving a Juvenile Victim from being continuously Sexually Assaulted by a Trusted Family Member. With Detective Colson’s Expertise, she was able to elicit a disclosure from The Eleven-Year-Old Child who had been victimized over the course of Two Years.
“Detective Colson and the other Members of her Unit should be recognized not only for this investigation but the numerous others that The Prosecutor’s Office High Technology Crimes Unit/ I.C.A.C. Task Force have handled throughout The Year of 2023,” said Chief Emmer.
“Prosecutor Sutherland said, “We would like to thank all of the members of The High Technology Crimes Unit/ I.C.A.C. Task Force for their dedication and professionalism while handling investigations that involve the extreme victimization of Juveniles, as we know that they are time-sensitive and can have a detrimental effect on the detectives that work them.”
