19-YEAR-OLD MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ANIMAL CRUELTY CHARGES IN THE DEATH OF PET CAT
“Bani J. Mezquititla Pled Guilty To Sexually Torturing & Killing His Pet Cat Back In March Of 2023.”

FREEHOLD, NJ.- Today, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago reported, that a 19-Year-Old Asbury Park, New Jersey man appeared in Monmouth County Superior Court and Admitted to Torturing and Killing his Pet Cat.
On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, Bani J. Mezquititla, appeared before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Chad N. Cagan and Pleaded Guilty to Third Degree Animal Cruelty by Tormenting, Torturing, or Unnecessarily or Cruelly Abusing a Living Animal Resulting in its Death; and Third Degree Animal Cruelty by Using or Causing or Procuring the Use of an Animal or Creature in any Kind of Sexual Manner.
The Guilty Plea stems from an Investigation that was launched in March 2023, when a concerned citizen brought The Body of a Dead Cat to The Asbury Park Police Department.
Members of The Asbury Park Police Department and The Monmouth County Society for The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Humane Law Enforcement Division learned that the cat belonged to Mezquititla, who had First Performed Sexual Acts on The Cat causing Serious Injuries to The Animal. It was also determined that Mezquititla later Restrained and Tortured the Cat resulting in its Death.
Mezquititla was located and Taken into Custody on the same day the investigation was launched and he was then Formally Charged and Transported to The Monmouth County Correctional Institution where he has remained Detained.
Sentencing in The Matter has been tentatively Scheduled for Thursday, May 13, 2024, in Monmouth County Superior Court at which time The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office will ask for Mezquititla to be Sentenced to a Term of Five Years in New Jersey State Prison.
