Police Arrest Between 40 And 50 Protesters At Yale University Monday Morning

Monday, April 22, 2024, 12:00 P.M. ET. By Jennifer Hodges: Englebrook Independent News,

NEW HAVEN, CT.- Today, between 40 and 50 protesters were arrested earlier as police dressed in riot gear looked in tents that were set up in an encampment near Beinecke Plaza, according to Yale Police Chief Anthony Campbell reported to the Yale Daily News. Some of the 40 or so protesters were reported as being students.

Chief Campbell told the Yale Daily News that the protesters arrested will be charged with a Class A Misdemeanor, and once processed will be released on a summons.

As police moved in and placed people under arrest around the camp, a group of more than 350 demonstrators blocked the intersection of Grove and College Streets on the New Haven, Connecticut, campus, which led to New Haven Police Officer to respond.

A video from the scene shows members of the group holding “Free Palestine” signs and chanting “From Yale To Columbia, We Will Not Be Moved.”

The removal of the Yale Protesters comes just days after New York City Police Officers took 108 anti-Israel protesters into custody at the Columbia University campus on Thursday, April 18, 2024, as Police Officers broke up the encampment at Columbia.

Protests have broken out across college campuses in recent months, as students demonstrate against Israel’s offensive in Gaza, following the October 7, 2023, Hamas assault on innocent Israeli Citizens that left 1200 people killed including women and infants, and another 240 Hostages being taken.

As protests continue throughout college campuses across the country, it is becoming evermore apparent that our higher education institutions have become a breeding ground for Antisemitic Hate.
