Two Dead In Trenton Double Shooting

43-Year-Old Hamilton Man And A 28-Year-Old Trenton Were Fatally Gunned Down Last Night On A Trenton Street

TRENTON, NJ.- Members of the Mercer County Homicide Task Force are actively investigating a double shooting that claimed the lives of a 43-year-old Hamilton, New Jersey man and a 28-year-old Trenton, New Jersey, after gunfire erupted on Wednesday night on a Trenton, New Jersey street.

     According to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri, on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, just around 7:45 p.m., members of the Trenton Police Department responded to a multishot ShotSpotter Activation in the area of Prospect Street and Pennington Avenue in the City of Trenton. 

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, identified as Chevaughn Fagan, 28, of Trenton, New Jersey lying on the ground in a parking lot of 812 Prospect Street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. A second man identified as Jerome Francis, 43, of Hamilton, New Jersey, was found in the same parking lot in the driver’s seat of a Blue Infiniti with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest.

     Both Fagan and Francis were immediately transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where despite life-saving efforts they both succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased a short time later. 

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.
