MAYS LANDING, NJ.- Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds reported, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, Quadir Webb, 31, of Camden, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and was sentenced to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison with a mandatory 5 years of incarceration before Webb will be eligible for parole.
The sentence is a result of a conviction in which Webb was found guilty on the charges of second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; second-degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons; fourth-degree Possession of Hollow Point Bullets; and fourth-degree Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Magazine.
The conviction and sentence stem from an incident that unfolded on March 6, 2022, at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City. Webb had spent the night at the Claridge Hotel with his girlfriend, Mariah Taylor, and then checked out at around 12:00 p.m. Several hours after checking out, a man called the Claridge Hotel’s front desk asking to go back into room 1219.
Upon checking the room, housekeeping found an all-black Glock 17 handgun, loaded with 16 hollow-point bullets and unsecured in the nightstand drawer. At the time when the handgun was found, Webb did not have a permit to purchase or carry a handgun.
When Atlantic City Police Officers arrived at the Claridge Hotel and met with Webb he began to run and was apprehended. Detectives determined that Webb was the guest in the room and no one entered the room after he left. Further, Detectives learned that Webb had a prior conviction that barred him from ever owning a firearm.
