32-Year-Old Union Beach Man Charged With Sex Crimes & Child Endangerment Offenses Against Eight Children

UNION BEACH, NJ.- A 32-year-old Union Beach, New Jersey man, who coaches student-athletes, will face a Monmouth County Superior Court Judge on Monday, May 20, 2024, to find out if he will be detained on charges following being taken into custody on Saturday, May 11, 2024, and formally charged with allegedly committing sex crimes against eight children.
Ryan Gunsauls, 32, of Union Beach, New Jersey, is charged with eight counts of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; eight counts of third-degree Distributing Obscene Materials to a Minor; two counts of second-degree Attempted Endangering the Welfare of a Child; two counts of fourth-degree Criminal Sexual Contact; one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child for the Distribution of Child Pornography; one count of third-degree Possession of Child Pornography, according to Monmouth County Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor Christopher J. Decker.
Following a swift-moving investigation by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Bureau and Detectives of the Union Beach Police Department which began the week of May 6, 2024, after a juvenile reported to authorities that Gunsauls had been soliciting and distributing sexually explicit materials with him via a social media application.
Further investigation uncovered additional victims, ranging in age from eleven to seventeen years old. Detectives contacted and interviewed the victims and determined that crimes had been committed and there was probable cause to arrest Gunsauls.
On Saturday, May 11, 2024, Gunsauls was taken into custody in Hazlet, New Jersey without incident. Following being taken into custody, Gunsauls was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution where he has remained.
