Local, State & Federal Authorities Are Investigating 3 Cars Removed From The Cooper River & 1 With Human Remains

PENNSAUKEN, NJ- Detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of human remains that were found in a motor vehicle that was removed from the Cooper River in Pennsauken, New Jersey on Thursday, May 16, 2024. Authorities also recovered two other motor vehicles from the river.

     According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, on Thursday, May 16, 2024, Federal, State, and Local law enforcement agencies recovered and removed three motor vehicles that were submerged in the Cooper River along North Park Drive to the south of Kaighn Avenue in Pennsauken, New Jersey.

     One of the vehicles that was pulled from the river contained human remains inside the driver’s side of the vehicle. Although the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office has not confirmed the identity, United Search Corps Missing Persons Unit has tentatively identified the remains as Bernadine Waters who has been missing for nearly 14 years and was last seen in Camden, New Jersey in 2010. Ms. Waters was 52 years old when she went missing.

     The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the Pennsauken Police Department were assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, New Jersey State Police, Camden County Police Department, Camden County/ Bellmawr Dive Team, Camden County Office of Emergency Management, Pennsauken Fire Department, and United Search Corps Missing Persons Unit.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. This is a developing story more information may become available once it is released by Camden County Authorities.
