CAMDEN, NJ.- On Friday, a 41-year-old Camden, New Jersey man was sentenced to 70 years in New Jersey State Prison for the September 29, 2020, horrific shooting death of his ex-girlfriend, 33-year-old Ashley Allen of Sicklerville, New Jersey.

According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, on March 22, 2024, following a trial, a jury sitting in Camden County Superior Court found Eric Seddens, 41, of Camden City, New Jersey guilty on the charge of Aggravated Manslaughter in the death of Ms. Allen.

On Friday, May 17, 2024, Seddens appeared before a Camden County Superior Court and was sentenced by a Superior Court Judge to 70 Years in New Jersey State Prison under the No Early Release Act which will require Seddens to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole.

According to documents in the case. The conviction and sentence stem from an investigation that unfolded on the night of September 29, 2020, when Seddens shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, who was the mother of his child, Ashley Allen. After fatally shooting Ms. Allen in the head, Seddens left Ms. Allen lying face-down in the middle of the street at 8th and Walnut Streets in Camden, New Jersey.

Seddens then took Ms. Allen’s vehicle and fled to Philadelphia where he hid for a few days before boarding a bus to Clearwater, Florida in an effort to evade capture. Seddens hid out in a motel in Clearwater for just around two weeks under a friend’s name, until U.S. Marshals apprehended him.

Seddens had been previously convicted of third-degree Aggravated Assault on Ms. Allen in 2018 and had been released from prison for only two months when he shot and killed her. Seddens was on parole for the aggravated assault conviction when he shot a killed Ms. Allen.
