Two Men Killed In Two Separate Camden Shootings

An 18-Year-Old Man & A 24-Year-Old Man Were Killed Within 8-Hours On Friday In Camden, New Jersey

CAMDEN, NJ.- Two Camden, New Jersey men become the latest victims of senseless gun violence after gunfire erupts in two separate shootings on Friday, May 17, 2024, leaving an 18-year-old man, and a 24-year-old man dead from gunshot wounds.

     According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, on Friday, May 17, 2024, shortly after 12:30 p.m., members of the Camden County Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter Activation for shots fired on the 800 Block of Princeton Avenue in the City of Camden. 

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, identified as Marcus Corbitt, 24, of Camden, New Jersey on the ground, suffering from multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. Mr. Corbitt was immediately transported by Camden County Police Officers to Cooper University Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

     Later that day, just shortly after 8:30 p.m., members of the Camden County Sheriff’s Department who were detailed to Cooper University Hospital reported that a man, identified as Na’Quan McCray, 24, of Camden, New Jersey was dropped off at the hospital by way of a private motor vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, Mr. McCray succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 10:08 p.m. During the initial investigation, Detectives determined that Mr. McCray was shot at Point Street Park located at Point and York Streets in the City of Camden.

     The investigation into both shooting deaths remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Police continue their search for the gunmen in both shootings.
