A 33-Year-Old Atlantic City Man Will Spend The Next 18 Years In Prison After Pleading Guilty Multiple Offenses

MAYS LANDING, NJ.- Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds reported that on Monday, May 20, 2024, Glen Graves, 33, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and pleaded guilty before the Honorable Bernard E. DeLury, J.S.C., to the charges of first-degree Kidnapping; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and fourth-degree Resisting Arrest by Flight.
In return for Graves pleading guilty, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office will recommend that Graves be sentenced to an 18-year term in New Jersey State Prison. The sentence will be subject to the No Early Release Act which will require Graves to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole. Following being released Graves will be subject to intensive parole supervision for an additional 5 years.
The guilty plea stems from an incident that began on the morning of December 27, 2022, Graves forcibly entered an apartment in Atlantic City armed with a handgun. Graves ransacked the apartment and then forced the resident, at gunpoint, to drive to a local bank. While seated in the backseat of the victim’s car, Graves forced the victim to take out $600.00 from the bank’s drive-through ATM.
Shortly thereafter, Graves discarded a pair of latex gloves and a loaded handgun. Ultimately, Police Officers identified Graves through surveillance video, witness statements, and a positive DNA match from the latex gloves.
Graves also pled guilty on unrelated indictments, and he is expected to be sentenced to concurrent terms on the charges of second-degree Aggravated Assault; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and second-degree Eluding Law Enforcement. Graves admitted that on August 5, 2022, he fired a handgun at an occupied vehicle that had been driving through Brigantine Homes in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Graves also admitted that on December 4, 2022, he deliberately eluded Police Officers from Egg Harbor City when he fled from a motor vehicle stop while in a stolen vehicle.
Graves was apprehended earlier this year after a joint investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Galloway Township Police Department.
