56-Year-Old Homeless Morristown Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting A 4-Year-Old Boy At Town Park

MORRISTOWN, NJ.- On Tuesday, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll reported that a 56-year-old homeless Morristown, New Jersey man was taken into custody and charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a 4-year-old boy in a Morristown Memorial Park that took place on May 9, 2024.

     On May 15, 2024, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office was notified of an incident that had taken place on May 9, 2024, at George Gramby Memorial Park. A 4-year-old boy reported to authorities that he was sexually assaulted by an unknown man while in the park.

     During an investigation, the man, later identified as John Dowd, 56, of Morristown, was located and taken into custody in Morristown, New Jersey.

     Accordingly, on May 15, 2024, following being taken into custody, Dowd was formally charged with first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Dowd was processed on the charges and will be detained in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending trial.
