MAYS LANDING, NJ.- A 53-year-old Mays Landing man was indicted on charges for the March 20, 2024 murder of his mother, 74-year-old Melba Daly inside her Mays Landing home. Ms Daly’s son, Sean Daly, had spent time in prison for stabbing his mother numerous times back on March 3, 2015.

According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on Wednesday, May 23, 2024, a grand jury sitting in Atlantic County, New Jersey, returned an indictment against Sean Daly, 53, of Mays Landing, New Jersey on charges in connection with the March 20, 2024, murder of Melba Daly.

The indictment stems from an investigation that began on March 20, 2024, when at approximately 11:38 a.m., members of the Hamilton Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call at a residence located on Quinn Avenue in Mays Landing.

Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered Melba Daly deceased inside her residence. A subsequent investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Hamilton Township Police Department were quickly able to determine that Sean Daly was responsible for the death of his mother.

Daly was taken into custody shortly after the murder and formally charged with first-degree Murder and Weapons Offenses. Daly has been in custody at the Atlantic County Justice Facility since his arrest.
