75-Year-Old Mays Landing Woman Indicted For The Stabbing & Beating Death Of Her 81-Year-Old Boyfriend

MAYS LANDING, NJ.- Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds reported, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, Eileen Bright, 75, of Mays Landing, New Jersey was indicted by an Atlantic County jury in connection with the murder of her boyfriend, Gary Johnson, 81, inside his Mays Landing home.

     According to authorities, on Sunday, March 31, 2024, shortly after 5:30 p.m., members of the Hamilton Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call from a nurse reporting a deceased man inside 13 Lewis Drive in Mays Landing.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, identified as Gary Johnson, 81, of Mays Landing, New Jersey, deceased inside the home from apparent head trauma and multiple stab wounds to his body. Mr. Johnson was pronounced deceased inside the residence and later transported to the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. The determination of death was multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma and the manner of death was ruled homicide.

     Following the discovery of Mr. Johnson’s body, his girlfriend Ms. Bright admitted to killing Mr. Johnson. Police Officers immediately placed Bright under arrest for the murder.

     Ms. Bright has remained detained in the Atlantic County Justice Facility since her initial arrest.

“The Rules Of The Court requires us to include a statement, that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
