34-Year-Old Port Murray Man Charged With Discharging A Gun During An Altercation

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Last Friday, a 34-year-old Port Murray, New Jersey man was formally charged with a second-degree weapons offense for recklessly firing a gun into the ground in an attempt to break up an altercation.

     According to Warren County Prosecutor Anthony A. Picione, on Friday, May 24, 2024, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members of the Mansfield Township Police Department responded to responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting gunfire on Gulick Street in the Township.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that during an altercation, Kajaun D. Manley, 34, of Port Murray, New Jersey, had fired a Smith and Wesson M&P 15 gun into the ground 9 times in an effort to break up a fight that was occurring nearby.

     Accordingly, Police Officers placed Mr. Manley under arrest and formally charged him with one count of second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Manley was processed on the charge pending future court proceedings in Warren County Superior Court in Belvidere, New Jersey. 

     If convicted on the charge, Mr. Manley could face a potential sentence of up to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
