24-Year-Old Wall Township Man Has Been Charged With Murder After His Girlfriend Dies From Injuries

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ.- A 24-year-old Wall Township, New Jersey man has been additionally charged with murder after his girlfriend tragically succumbed to the injuries he inflicted on her when he brutally attacked her with a machete on May 23, 2024, in the parking lot of a Wall Township apartment complex.
According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, just shortly before 9:30 a.m., members of the Wall Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a woman being attacked in the parking lot of the Glen Oaks Apartment Complex in Wall Township.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman suffering from multiple life-threatening injuries.
A swift-moving investigation by Detectives of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Wall Township determined that Alex J. Williams, 24, of Wall Township attacked his girlfriend in the parking lot repeatedly with a machete, while the woman’s child was nearby.
Accordingly, Williams was located and taken into custody and formally charged with first-degree Attempted Murder; second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. Williams was processed and the charges and was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending future court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court in Freehold, New Jersey.
Today, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office reported that on Thursday, May 30, 2024, Williams’ girlfriend tragically succumbed to the injuries that she sustained and was pronounced deceased.
Following the death of his girlfriend, Williams was additionally charged with one count of first-degree Murder. Williams was arrested on the charge at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution where he has been lodged since his arrest on May 23, 2024.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a pretrial detention motion to have Williams detained pending trial. The motion has been tentatively scheduled to be heard before the Honorable Richard W. English on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. in Monmouth County Superior Court.
