HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ.- A 24-year-old Elmwood Park, New Jersey was apprehended on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in Alexandria Virginia, after being charged on May 15, 2024, in connection with a February 5, 2024, single-day armed robbery spree.

According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Monday, February 5, 2024, members of the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department responded to a gas station located on Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights on a report of an attempted armed robbery.

Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that an unknown male suspect attempted to rob the station’s attendant, struck him with a firearm, and then fled the scene. Police Officers notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Detectives of the Special Investigations Squad responded and an investigation ensued.

While on the scene in Hasbrouck Heights, and within minutes, Detectives, and Police Officers were notified of another attempted armed robbery that had just occurred at a gas station located on Van Houten Avenue in Clifton, New Jersey. During that attempt, an unknown male suspect pointed a firearm at the station’s attendant. The attendant was able to secure himself inside the gas station’s building, and the suspect then fled the scene. Members of the Clifton Police Department responded and an investigation ensued.

Later in the day, members of the Paterson Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an armed robbery at a grocery store located on North 3rd Street in the City of Paterson. Upon arrival, Police Officers learned from the store employees, that an unknown male suspect pointed a firearm at them, demanded money, and threatened to kill them. Around $400 was turned over to the suspect, who then fled the scene.

Following the initial investigations, Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Clifton, and Paterson Police Departments reviewed video surveillance footage from all three robbery locations and concluded that the suspect in the robberies was wearing the same style and colored clothing and used the same vehicle. Detectives were able to identify the vehicle as a Black Dodge Challenger that was stolen from New York City on February 2, 2024, just three days before the robbery.

During a months-long extensive investigation, Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Husem Nasri, 24, of Elmwood Park, New Jersey as the individual who robbed all three locations.

Accordingly, on May 15, 2024, Nasri was charged with four counts of first-degree Armed Robbery; three counts of second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; three counts of second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; one count of third-degree Aggravated Assault; two counts of third-degree Terroristic Threats; third-degree Theft; and three counts of fourth-degree Aggravated Assault. Following the filing of the charges, a warrant was issued for Nasri’s arrest.

Nasri remained at large until Tuesday, May 28, 2024, after Detectives of the Bergen County Special Investigations Squad located Nasri who fled to evade arrest in Alexandria Virginia, where he was apprehended with the assistance of the FBI North Jersey Violent Crimes Task Force and the FBI North Virginia Resident Agency, Washington Field Office.

Nasri will remain at the Alexandria City Detention Center, pending extradition to New Jersey. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office will be handling the prosecution on all three cases.
