62-Year-Old Elizabeth Man Sentenced To State Prison For Sexually Assaulting Two Young Girls Over 11 Years

ELIZABETH, NJ.- Last Wednesday a 62-year-old Elizabeth, New Jersey man was sentenced to 22 years in New Jersey State Prison for the traumatic and repeated sexual assaults of two young girls over 11 years in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

     According to Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, on March 5, 2024, following a trial in Union County Superior Court, a jury found Ahmed Andre, 62, of Elizabeth, New Jersey guilty of the charges of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; four counts of second-degree Sexual Assault; two counts of third-degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact; two counts of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and one count of fourth-degree Criminal Sexual Contact.

     On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, Andre appeared before the Honorable Candido Rodriguez, Jr., J.S.C., and was sentenced by the Judge to 22 years in New Jersey State Prison. Judge Rodriguez ordered that the sentence be subject to the No Early Release Act, which will require Andre to serve 85% of his custodial sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

     Upon his release from prison, Andre will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law Requirements and will be on parole supervision for life.

      According to Union County Assistant Prosecutor Peter Benza, the investigation uncovered the victims, two girls were sexually assaulted by Andre on multiple occasions, beginning when they were nine and ten years old. The investigation began with a referral from the Elizabeth Public School District and was led by Detective Sergeant Joanne Son of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.

     “This sentence may not erase the trauma inflicted on the victims, but it sends a clear message: sexual assault will not be tolerated,” Prosecutor Daniel said. “The Union County Prosecutor’s Office is committed to pursuing the prosecution of individuals who prey on vulnerable children.”
