Saturday Night Domestic Dispute Ends With 62-Year-Old Father Dead & His 36-Year-Old Son Charged In His Death

MIDDLETOWN, NJ.- An apparent Saturday night physical altercation between a 62-year-old father and his 36-year-old son inside their Middletown, New Jersey home has resulted in the son being charged in connection with his father’s death.
Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago reported, that Kyle Kierman, 36, of Middletown, has been criminally charged with second-degree Reckless Manslaughter with the death of his father, Lawrence Kierman, 62, of Middletown, New Jersey.
According to the report, on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at around 6:30 p.m., members of the Middletown Police Department responded to a residence to a residence located on the 300 Block of Pine Street in Middletown after receiving a report of a domestic violence incident.
Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that an altercation had occurred between Mr. Keir man and his son. Upon their initial investigation, Police Officers arrested Kyle Keirman on a charge of simple assault, while Mr. Keirman declined medical attention. following being processed on the charge, Kyle was lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
At just around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2024, Middletown Police Officers responded back to the Pine Street home following receiving a report of a medical emergency. Upon arrival, Police Officers found Lawrence Keirman unresponsive in his home. Mr. Keirman was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased around 12:00 p.m. Sunday.
A subsequent investigation by Detectives of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Middletown Police Department determined that the injuries Lawrence Keirman sustained during the fight with his son caused his death. Following an autopsy that was conducted on Tuesday, which resulted in Mr. Keirman’s death being ruled a homicide, the charges against Kyle Keirman were upgraded on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
Kyle Keirman remains lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending future court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court in Freehold, New Jersey.
