65-Year-Old Oak Hill New York Man Charged For Driving Druck & Causing Serious Injuries To A Pedestrian

PARK RIDGE, NJ.- A 65-year-old Oak Hill, New York man was taken into custody and jailed following being charged in connection with driving under the influence of alcohol and hitting a pedestrian on Saturday in Park Ridge, New Jersey.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Saturday, June 8, 2024, members of the Park Ridge Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting that a pedestrian had been struck by a motor vehicle on Brae Boulevard in Park Ridge.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers determined that a 2021 Dodge Ram pick-up truck being driven by Mark Carroll, 65, of Oak Hill, New York was driving westbound on Brae Boulevard, causing the pedestrian to sustain serious injuries, the pedestrian was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, the condition of the pedestrian is unknown at this time. During the initial investigation, Carroll was suspected of being under the influence.

      Following the subsequent investigation by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Park Ridge Police Department, Carroll was taken into custody and charged with third-degree Assault by Auto; Driving While Intoxicated; and other related motor vehicle offenses.

     After being processed on the charges, Carroll was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court requires us to include a statement, that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
