27-Year-Old Paterson Man & 26-Year-Old Paterson Woman Charged For The Shooting Death Of 44-Year-Old Man

PATERSON, NJ.- Yesterday, a 27-year-old Paterson, New Jersey man, and a 26-year-old Paterson, New Jersey woman were taken into custody and formally charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Twahee Howard, 44, of Paterson, that occurred on June 2, 2024, in Paterson, New Jersey.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, Mathew Amaro, 27, of Paterson, New Jersey, and Tiffany Medina, 26, of Paterson, New Jersey were both taken into custody on Monday, June 10, 2024, without incident in Paterson, New Jersey.
Following being taken into custody, Amaro was formally charged with first-degree Murder; first-degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and third-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
Medina was formally charged with first-degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; and third-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
The charges stem from an investigation that began on Sunday, June 2, 2024, when shortly before 9:00 p.m., members of the Paterson Police Department responded to a report of gunfire in the area of Chadwick and Weiss Streets in the City of Paterson.
While Police Officers were en route to the scene, they were notified by Police Headquarters that the victim of the shooting, Twahee Howard, 44, of Paterson, New Jersey had arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center suffering from multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by medical center staff, Mr. Howard sadly succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
During the course of the ensuing investigation, Detectives that Amaro and Medina were involved in the shooting.
Both Amaro and Media were processed on the charges and were scheduled to make their first appearance in Passaic County Central Judicial Processing Court. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office will file a motion to have Amaro and Medina detained pending trial.
