LAKEWOOD, NJ.- Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer reported, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, that a Grand Jury sitting in Ocean County, New Jersey has returned an indictment against Million Brown-Bey, 47, of Toms River, New Jersey on the charges of first-degree Attempted Murder; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and second-degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons.

The indictment stems from an investigation that began on January 7, 2024, when Police Officers of the Lakewood Township Police Department responded to the West Gate Shopping Complex following receiving a 911 Emergency Call reporting gunshots.

While on the scene, Police Officers were notified that a 27-year-old man had arrived at Hackensack Meridian Health Ocean Medical Center, seeking treatment for gunshot wounds to both arms. The man was treated and released.

A subsequent investigation by members of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit and the Lakewood Township Police Department quickly learned that the victim arrived at a Hillside Avenue residence when a man approached his vehicle and fired at least one round, striking the victim that caused injuries to both his arms. The victim was able to drive himself to the hospital.

Further investigation by Detectives, was able to identify Brown-Bey as the shooter, and the individual responsible for the shooting of the victim.

Four days later, on January 11, 2024, Brown-Bey was taken into custody and formally charged. Following being processed on the charges Brown-Bey was remanded to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River, New Jersey where he remains since his arrest.
