30-Year-Old Jersey City Man Charged In Connection With The June 2, 2024, Sexual Assault Of A Woman

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Monday, June 17, 2024, a 30-year-old Jersey City, New Jersey man was taken into custody by Detectives of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and formally charged in connection with the aggravated sexual assault of a woman that occurred on Sunday, June 2, 2024, in Jersey City.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Marc Toledo, 30, of Jersey City, New Jersey was formally charged with first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; first-degree Kidnapping; second-degree Sexual Assault; Aggravated Assault; and third-degree Terroristic Threats.
Toledo was taken into custody at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City, New Jersey. Following being processed on the charges Toledo was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings in Hudson County Superior Court in Jersey City, New Jersey.
The charges stem from an investigation that unfolded during the morning hours of Sunday, June 2, 2024, when a 22-year-old woman reported to authorities that she was approached by an unknown man in a Journal Square neighborhood. The woman entered a vehicle being operated by the man. The man then drove the woman a short distance to the area of Division and Eighth Streets and then sexually assaulted her inside the vehicle.
A swift-moving investigation by Detectives of the Hudson County Special Victims Unit and the Jersey City Police Department were able to identify Toledo as the suspect and the individual who sexually assaulted the victim. Detectives with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service were able to locate Toledo and take him into custody.
