20-Year-Old Atlantic City Man Sentenced To State Prison For Shooting  Man In The Head On Boardwalk In 2022

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, Wesley Briscoe, 20, of Atlantic City, New Jersey appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and was sentenced on the charges of second-degree Aggravated Assault; fourth-degree Pointing a Firearm; and fourth-degree Hindering Apprehension in connection with a violent shooting that occurred in July 2022.

     According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, according to a plea agreement, Briscoe was sentenced to a 3-year term in New Jersey State Prison, subject to the No Early Release Act which will require Briscoe to serve 85% of his custodial sentence before becoming eligible for parole. Briscoe will also be subject to an additional 3 years of parole supervision once he is released from prison.

     According to documents in the case, on the evening of July 8, 2022, into July 9, 2022, a 20-year-old man was located by police after being found on the Atlantic City boardwalk with a bullet wound to his head.

     Through surveillance footage and witness statements, Detectives determined that Briscoe committed the shooting after riding his bicycle to the boardwalk. Under oath during his plea hearing, Briscoe admitted to hiding his clothing after the shooting to evade detection by the Police.
