31-Year-Old Jersey City Police Officer Has Been Charged With Six Counts Of Forgery

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, Detectives of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Internal Affairs Unit arrested a Jersey City Police Officer in connection with an investigation into a pattern of forgery.
Today, Justin Rivera, 31, was taken into custody at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City, New Jersey, and formally charged with six counts of fourth-degree Forgery/Uttering False Documents. Rivera was processed on the charges and was released pending his first appearance which has been scheduled for July 9, 2024, in Hudson County Central Judicial Processing Court in Jersey City, New Jersey.
The arrest and charges stem from an investigation that alleged, that between March 2022 and January 2023, Rivera submitted six records to the Jersey City Police Department requesting medical leave. During the investigation, Detectives determined that the six records were forged granting Rivera an additional eight weeks of paid medical leave.
