East Orange Man And Newark Woman Remain Hospitalized After Being Struck By A Motor Vehicle In Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is continuing the investigation into an early Saturday morning hit-and-run in Jersey City, that left an East Orange, New Jersey man and a Newark, New Jersey woman hospitalized in serious condition after the moped they were riding was struck by a motor vehicle that fled the scene.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at around 12:20 a.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a crash in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Wilkinson Street in Jersey City.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located two people, identified as a 36-year-old East Orange, New Jersey man, and a 23-year-old Newark, New Jersey woman both having sustained serious injuries from being struck by a vehicle while they were on a moped. Both individuals were immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center where they remain being treated for their injuries.
During the initial investigation, responding Officers learned that the vehicle that struck the two fled the scene. A short time later Police Officers recovered the vehicle.
