Middlesex County Authorities Are Actively Investigating The Murder Of An 80-Year-Old Perth Amboy Woman

PERTH AMBOY, NJ.- Middlesex County Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder of an 80-year-old Perth Amboy, New Jersey woman who was found deceased yesterday afternoon by a family member inside her Perth Amboy home.
According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Coiccone, on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at just around 1:15 p.m., members of the Perth Amboy Police Department received a 911 Emergency Call reporting a woman found unresponsive by a relative inside her State Street Perth Amboy home.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found the woman, identified as Awilda Verrette, 80, deceased from injuries inside the home. Ms. Verrette was subsequently pronounced deceased.
The initial investigation by Detective Jeremy Harris of the Perth Amboy Police Department and Detective Jose Rosario of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that the murder was not a random act of violence.
