RIVERSIDE, NJ.- On Tuesday, following an investigation, a 30-year-old Riverside, New Jersey man was taken into custody and formally charged with possessing child sexual abuse material.
According to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw, Brandon Troughton, 30, of Riverside, New Jersey, has been formally charged with third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, for the Possession of Child Pornography. Troughton was taken into custody at his Riverside home on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
Following being processed on the charge, Troughton was remanded to the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly, New Jersey. Troughton appeared in Burlington County Superior Court, for a first appearance at which time a Superior Court Judge released Troughton on pretrial conditions pending future court proceedings. The charge will be referred to a Burlington County Grand Jury for possible indictment.
The charge stems from an investigation that began when Detectives of the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office High-Tech Crimes Unit received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, regarding Troughton’s online activity.
During the investigation, and following the execution of a court-authorized search warrant on Troughton’s home, Detectives uncovered and determined that Troughton accessed the internet to view, download, and possess digital images depicting nude and or sexually explicit children, and saved the images to his electronic device.
