Wildwood Police Are Continuing Search For William C. Hoyle, Wanted In Tuesday Night’s Shooting

WILDWOOD, NJ.- The Wildwood Police Department and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office are asking for the public’s assistance in the whereabouts of William C. Hoyle, wanted in connection with a Wildwood, New Jersey, shooting that has left an innocent bystander hospitalized in critical condition.
According to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 10:30 p.m., members of the Wildwood Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a shooting on the 3800 Block of Pacific Avenue in the City of Wildwood.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a bystander who had been struck by gunfire. The victim was immediately transported to Atlantic Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey, for treatment. As of Wednesday, the victim remained hospitalized in critical condition.
A swift-moving investigation by Detectives of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Wildwood Police Department were quickly able to identify William C. Hoyle as the shooter and the individual responsible for shooting the innocent bystander. Following being identified a warrant was issued for Hoyle’s arrest.
As of Thursday morning, Hoyle remains on the run and has evaded capture by law enforcement.
