2-Month-Old Girl Tragically Dies After Being Left In Hot Car On Monday, Father Charged

LAKEWOOD, NJ.- 28-year-old Jackson Township, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and charged in connection with the death of his 2-month-old daughter that occurred on Monday afternoon in Lakewood Township, New Jersey.

     According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Monday, July 15, 2024, shortly after 1:30 p.m., members of the Lakewood Township Police Department responded to the area of New Egypt Road in the township after receiving a report of an infant in cardiac arrest.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers Police Officers found Hatzolah Medical Services attempting to administer life-saving measures to an eight-week-old infant girl. Despite life-saving efforts, the child was pronounced deceased at the scene.

     A subsequent investigation by responding Police Officers and Detectives determined that the baby girl had been left in a hot car for an extended period of time by the baby’s father, Avraham Chaitovsky. The investigation further determined that leaving the baby unattended for an extended period of time led to the death of the child.

     Accordingly, Avraham Chaitovsky, 28, of Jackson Township, New Jersey, was taken into custody and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Following being processed on the charge, Chaitovsky was remanded to the Ocean County Jail pending a first appearance in Ocean County Superior Court.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. Additional charges may be filed.
