HOUSTON, TX.- As of Monday, July 15, 2024, over a quarter million Texans in and around the Houston area remain without power following Hurricane Beryl’s landfall early last week.
This is not the first time Texans have been plagued with extended delays in restoring electricity due to heat waves and other storms over the past few years. As previously reported, those familiar with the Texas power grid saw this coming the moment Beryl knocked power to that region of Texas.
Calls have been coming from Republican and Democratic officials for the public utility CenterPoint to answer for the delays so far. CenterPoint has been mostly unresponsive to Texas officials, prompting Governor Greg Abbott to say, “The communication component of CenterPoint is unacceptable. Corrections are coming whether they like it or not.”
We will be providing updates on this situation as it unfolds.
