RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ.- On Wednesday, following a months-long investigation by Bergen County Authorities, a 44-year-old Belle Mead, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and charged in connection with a 4-year, $1.2 million embezzlement scheme.

According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, in December 2023, Detectives of the Ridgefield Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office regarding an allegation of employee embezzlement at a Ridgefield Park, New Jersey company.

Detectives of the Bergen County Financial Crimes Unit launched an investigation into the alleged embezzlement. During the course of the investigation, Detectives concluded that Sang Park, 44, of Belle Mead, New Jersey, manipulated his payroll and employee expense records from 2018 through 2022. Following a forensic accounting audit, Detectives uncovered that during the four years, Park embezzled $1.2 million in company funds.

Accordingly, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, Park was taken into custody at home in Belle Mead, New Jersey, by Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office with the assistance of the Montgomery Township Police Department and formally charged with two counts of second-degree Theft by Deception.

Park was transported to Bergen County, where he was processed on the charges and remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
