Monmouth University Students Have Been Ordered To Shelter In Place As Authorities Are Searching The Campus

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ.- During the early hours on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, Monmouth University officials ordered a lockdown of the campus due to an active investigation on campus grounds. University students were told to shelter in place.
Just shortly after 1:30 a.m. this morning, University Police officials initiated the lockdown, stating, “There Is An Emergency at Monmouth University. A Lockdown is in Effect. This is Not a Drill. Please Close and Lock All Doors and Await Further Instructions.”
At around 4:15 a.m., school officials posted on their website, “University Police are continuing their investigation. Please Continue to Shelter in Place.”
Monmouth Univerisity Police and local law enforcement agencies have closed all entrances to the campus. The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office will be releasing a statement later this morning.
