BRIDGETON, NJ.- On Friday, a 29-year-old Bridgeton, New Jersey man appeared in Cumberland County Superior and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Cristen P. D’Arrigo to five years in New Jersey State Prison in connection with having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a girl who was between the ages of 13 and 16.

The sentence stems from an investigation that unfolded in the summer of 2022 when members of the Bridgeton Police Department responded to an apparent domestic dispute at a residence in the City. Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that Ulver Roblero Deleon, 29, formerly of Bridgeton, New Jersey, had taken a teen victim’s cell phone by force.

During an ensuing investigation, Investigators learned that Deleon had been in a sexual relationship with the teen girl, who was between 13 years old and under 16 years old, therefore not being of legal age to consent to engage in a sexual relationship. After learning that investigators wanted to talk with Deleon apparently fled the area to evade law enforcement.

On or about August 7, 2022, Deleon was located and taken into custody and formally charged with second-degree Sexual Assault; third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; fourth-degree Criminal Sexual Contact; second-degree Robbery; fourth-degree Resisting by Flight; and fourth-degree Obstruction of Justice.

The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office presented the charges to a Grand Jury, which returned an indictment against Deleon on the above charges on October 19, 2022.

On October 31, 2023, Deleon entered into a negotiated plea agreement with the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office. On the same day, Deleon pleaded guilty to third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. In return for the guilty plea, the Prosecutor’s Office recommended that Deleon be sentenced to five years in prison.

On Friday, August 2, 2024, Deleon received a sentence of 5 years. During the hearing, Judge D’Arrigo also ordered that upon his release from prison, Deleon must register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law requirements and further ordered that he be on parole supervision for life.
