Today, A West New York Man Was Taken Into Custody & Charged With The July 27th Sexual Assault Of A Woman

WEST NEW YORK, NJ.- On Friday, July 9, 2024, members of the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Carlos Ruiz Castro in connection with the Saturday, July 27, 2024, sexual assault of a woman in West New York.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Carlos Ruiz Castro was formally charged with first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; first-degree Kidnapping; second-degree Sexual Assault; second-degree Aggravated Assault; third-degree Criminal Sexual Contact; and a disorderly persons offense Simple Assault.
Ruiz Castro was taken into custody on Jackson Avenue in Hackensack, New Jersey. He was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings in Hudson County Superior Court in Jersey City, New Jersey.
The charges stem from an investigation that began on Saturday, July 27, 2024, when around 1:30 a.m., a 40-year-old woman reported that she had encountered an unknown man in the area of Hudson Avenue and 51st Street in West New York. The woman reported to Police Officers that the man closely approached her, grabbed her by the hair, and sexually assaulted her.
