40-Year-Old Virginia Man Charged With The Multiple Sexual Assaults Of A Teen In 2003

ENGLEWOOD, NJ.- On Thursday, a 40-year-old Woodbridge, Virginia, man was taken into custody following being charged earlier in the week in connection with the alleged multiple sexual assaults of an Englewood, New Jersey teen in 2003.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, back on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was contacted regarding the alleged sexual assault of a teenager that had occurred last year.
A joint investigation by Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit and the Englewood Police Department was able to determine that David Persaud, 40, of Woodbridge, Virginia, while in New Jersey, sexually assaulted a teen who was between the ages thirteen and eighteen, on multiple occasions in Englewood, New Jersey in 2003.
Accordingly, following a months-long investigation, on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit filed charges against Persaud, charging him with two counts of second-degree Sexual Assault.
On Thursday, August 8, 2024, Persaud was located and taken into custody at his Woodbridge, Virginia, residence by Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit with the assistance of Officers of the Prince William County, Virginia Police Department.
Persaud was processed on a fugitive from justice warrant and lodged in the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, pending an extradition hearing and his return to Bergen County, New Jersey.
