23-Year-Old Kanawha County Man Pleads Guilty To Selling Fentanyl To Confidential Informants

CHARLESTON, W.VA.- A 23-year-old Dunbar, West Virginia, man faces up to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty late last week in connection with selling fentanyl to two confidential informants in 2023.
On Friday, August 9, 2024, Jacarre Cortez Woodruff, 23, of Dunbar, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court and pleaded guilty to a charge of Distribution of Fentanyl.
According to documents in the case and filed in the court for the Southern District of West Virginia. On July 25, 2023, during the course of an investigation, Woodruff sold approximately 27.4 grams of a substance containing fentanyl to two confidential informants at his Dunbar residence.
U.S. District Court Judge John C. Copenhaver, Jr., accepted the plea and has scheduled sentencing for November 20, 2024. At that time, Woodruff will face a maximum term of incarceration of 20 years in federal prison, followed by at least three years of supervised release and a potential fine of $1 million.
United States Attorney Will Thompson commended the investigative efforts of agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives for Woodruff’s arrest and guilty plea.
