ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- On Monday, August 12, 2024, Halim Fisher, 25, of Galloway Township, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and pleaded guilty to charges of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Eluding Law Enforcement; and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute.
In return for the guilty plea, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office will recommend that Ficher be sentenced to six years in New Jersey State Prison. As a condition of the pending sentence, Fisher will be required to serve a minimum of 42 months before becoming eligible for parole. Additionally, Fisher will be subject to a post-conviction Drug Offender Restraining Order, barring him from being on the 1700 Block of Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The guilty plea stems from an investigation that began on December 21, 2022, when Fisher was arrested in the 1700 Block of Atlantic Avenue after he and a juvenile sold crack cocaine to a man inside a convenience store.
When Police Officers from the Atlantic City Police Department arrived at the store, Fisher was taken into custody and was found to be in possession of a scale and a set of Ford car keys. A search of the juvenile uncovered crack cocaine on his person.
Subsequently, Police Officers located a Ford Fusion, which video surveillance revealed Fisher parking near the area where he was taken into custody.
A court-authorized search warrant was obtained for the Ford Fusion. During the search, Police Officers found a loaded handgun inside the glove compartment of the Ford Fusion. The DNA laboratory later confirmed that Fisher’s DNA was present on the handgun.
During Monday’s court hearing, Fisher also pleaded guilty on two unrelated cases, charging him with eluding police during an attempted motor vehicle stop in Mays Landing, New Jersey, on June 2, 2023, and to possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute, on the 1700 Block of Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City, New Jersey on November 23, 2022.
At Monday’s hearing, Superior Court Judge Donna M. Taylor denied Fisher’s request to be released pending sentencing. Fisher will remain detained in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending his sentencing, which has been scheduled for October 2024. At that time, he will be transferred to the New Jersey State Department of Corrections to serve his state prison term.
