GREENWICH, NJ.- On Monday, a 50-year-old Greenwich, New Jersey, man appeared in Cumberland County Superior Court in Bridgeton, New Jersey, and was sentenced to a decade in state prison for his role in a large-scale gambling and narcotics distribution ring.

According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, during an investigation by Detectives of the New Jersey State Police in conjunction with the Cumberland County High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force into an illegal gambling operation that included cockfighting, that also included the activities of methamphetamine distribution in Greenwich Township, Cumberland County, New Jersey.

Throughout the investigation, Detectives were able to determine that Jimmy Hadden, 50, of Greenwich, New Jersey, and his father, Jaime Ferrer, were the leaders of the gambling operation, and during the course of the investigation, Hadden had also sold methamphetamine to an undercover officer on more than one occasion.

Accordingly, on May 14, 2021, following a court-authorized search warrant at the Greenwich residence, Hadden and his father were taken into custody, Hadden was charged with multiple counts of possession and distribution of narcotics offenses as well as gambling and weapons offenses. During the search, Detectives seized approximately $180,000 in cash, over a pound of methamphetamine, as well as a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Both Hadden and his father, Mr. Ferrer, were subsequently indicted by a Cumberland County Grand Jury on the charges, but as the case moved forward, Mr. Ferrer passed away in 2023.

On May 20, 2024, Hadden appeared in Cumberland County Superior Court and entered guilty pleas before Superior Court Judge Niki Arbittier to first-degree Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance; and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

On Monday, August 12, 2024, in accordance with the terms of the plea agreement, Judge Arbittier sentenced Hadden to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison and a concurrent 5-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison. Hadden will be required to serve 42 months before becoming eligible for parole. Hadden agreed to forfeit the $180,000 in cash, and the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe seized during his arrest.
