32-Year-Old Essex County Grips Gang Member Admits Guilt To A Racketeering Conspiracy & Distribution Of Cocaine

NEWARK, NJ.- U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger reported on Thursday, August 15, 2024, a 32-year-old member of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Grips appeared in U.S. District Court in Newark, New Jersey, and admitted guilt for his role in a racketeering conspiracy.

     On Thursday, Kareem Green, 32, of Essex County, New Jersey, going by the street name “Try Me,” pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton in New Jersey Federal District Court to a superseding indictment charging him with Racketeering, Influenced, and Corrupting Organizations Conspiracy and a separate indictment charging Green with Distribution of Cocaine.

Documents Filed With The Court

     According to documents filed with the court: From 2015 through September 22, 2022, Green was a member of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Grips, a criminal enterprise responsible for acts of violence and the distribution of controlled substances in the District of New Jersey and elsewhere.

     On April 5, 2021, Green worked with other members of the Grips to shoot another individual. On April 11, 2021, Green worked with another gang member to distribute cocaine.

     Sentencing in the case has been scheduled for December 18, 2024, at which time Green faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine on the racketeering charge. On the distribution of cocaine charge, Green faces up to 20 years in federal prison and up to a $1 million fine.
