26-Year-Old New Brunswick Man Surrenders To Police After Being Charged With Child Endangerment

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ.- On Thursday, August 15, 2024, a 26-year-old New Brunswick, New Jersey man who is employed as a Recreation Assistant at a city summer program surrendered to police after being charged with a child endangerment offense.
Investigation Launched
According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, after receiving a report of alleged sexual contact with a minor, an investigation was launched and conducted by Detective Lauren Leyva of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Detective Bill Coleman of the New Brunswick Police Department.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Detective Leyva and Detective Coleman determined that Dwany Cruz, 26, of New Brunswick, New Jersey, had inappropriate sexual contact with a minor on multiple occasions while employed as a Recreation Assistant at a New Brunswick summer program.
On Thursday, after being notified of the pending charge, Cruz surrendered himself at the New Brunswick Police Department and was formally charged with one count of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
