HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Friday, Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Theresa L. Hilton reported that a month-long investigation into cocaine distribution in the Hamilton Township, New Jersey area, resulted in the arrest of a 35-year-old Hamilton Township man and Detectives seizing $1.1 million in illicit narcotics, five handguns and $65,000 in cash.

Arrest

On August 7, 2024, James Nalbone, Jr., 35, of Hamilton, New Jersey, was taken into custody and charged in connection with an investigation that was conducted by members of the Mercer County Narcotic Task Force, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Ewing, Hamilton and Trenton Police Departments.

Narcotics Seized

During the execution of a court-authorized search warrant at Nalbone’s Byron Avenue residence, Detectives detained Nalbone. During the search, a K9 unit gave positive results on multiple locations in Nalbone’s residence, following the positive sniff detections, Detectives found six kilograms of cocaine, 130 pounds of marijuana, two thousand oxycodone pills, three handguns, and a defaced ghost gun, as well as $65,000 in cash.

Detectives also uncovered assorted drug paraphernalia, including packaging material, scales, and a hydraulic press used to compact cocaine into kilograms after being mixed with cutting agents.

During a subsequent search of Nalbone’s Lincoln MKZ, Detectives found another handgun and paperwork indicating he was renting a storage unit at a nearby storage facility. Detectives once again deployed a K9 team and were able to obtain an additional court-authorized search warrant for Nalbone’s storage unit located on Quaker Bridge Road in Hamilton.

During the execution of that search, Detectives found an additional 12 kilograms of cocaine, 20 pounds of marijuana, and a large quantity of edible marijuana products.

Charges Filed

Following the searches, Nalbone was formally charged with 18 Narcotics and Weapons offenses and one count of Money Laundering. He was processed on the charges and remanded to the Mercer County Correctional Center pending future court proceedings in Mercer County Superior Court in Trenton, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
