MOUNT OLIVE, NJ.- On Friday, August 16, 2024, a 44-year-old Mount Olive, New Jersey, man appeared in Morris County Superior Court and was sentenced to state prison in connection with an investigation into the sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl at a hair salon back in November 2022.
Following being arrested and charged in November 2022, Joseph Guzman, 44, of Mount Olive, New Jersey, appeared in Morris County Superior Court on October 27, 2024, and entered a guilty plea to one count of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Judge Imposes Sentence
Under the terms of the plea agreement, Morris County Superior Court Judge Claudia Jones sentenced Guzman to three years in New Jersey State Prison on Friday, August 16, 2024. The Judge further ordered that Guzman will also be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law registration requirements and will be on parole supervision for life. Guzman will further be barred from any contact with the teen victim or the victim’s family.
The guilty plea and prison sentence stem from an investigation that resulted in Guzman being charged on November 23, 2022, for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at Joseph Vincent’s Salon in Mount Olive, New Jersey, on August 10, 2022. At the time of the assault, Guzman was the teen’s employer and supervisor at the salon.
