35-Year-Old Mexican National Has Been Indicted For Entering The U.S. Illegally After Being Deported In 2019

HARRISBURG, PA.- A 35-year-old Mexican National who had been deported in 2019 was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, for reentering the United States illegally after he was found and taken into custody in Lebanon County, Pennslyvania.
According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, a federal grand jury sitting in the Middle District of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg returned the indictment against Ulises Perez-Herrera, 35, a Mexican National, on a charge of Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.
According to documents unsealed in the indictment and filed with the court, Perez-Herrera was previously removed from the United States on June 15, 2019, through Hidalgo, Texas.
Indictment Alleges
The indictment alleges that Perez-Herrera illegally entered the United States without having first obtained legal permission to reenter the country after he was found on July 27, 2024, in the Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, area.
   If convicted on the charge, Perez-Herrera faces a potential federal prison term of up to 10 years. Upon completing his custodial term, he will also be subject to three years of supervised release, fines, and assessments to be determined by the court. Upon release from federal custody, Perez-Herrera will once again face deportation proceedings.
