New York Woman Charged With Distribution Of Child Pornography

NEW HAVEN, CT.- Last Tuesday, August 27, 2024, a 23-year-old Pelham, New York, woman was charged in a federal complaint with distributing child pornography after she was communicating online through messenger applications with an undercover federal agent posing as a minor.

According To U.S. Attorney

     According to U.S. Attorney Vanessa Roberts Avery, Sasha May, formerly known as Owen May, 23, of Pelham, New York, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and was formally charged with Distribution of Child Pornography.

     During her initial appearance, U.S. District Court Judge Maria E. Garcia released May on a $100,000 bond and placed her in home confinement with electronic monitoring pending trial.

Charging Documents

     According to the information filed with the court, it has been alleged that between December 2023 and May 2024, May engaged in online conversations with an undercover law enforcement officer on the messaging platforms Kik and Whisper. In those conversations, May detailed her sexual interests in children and distributed child pornography.

     If convicted at trial of charge, May face a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 20 years in federal prison to be followed by a term of supervised release.
